mile 4 - 15:22
mile 5 - 14:30

Weather: Cool, but warmed up. Perfect weather for the race. =)
How did I feel? Awesome. Kept with my intervals all but twice. Once was because I couldn't hear the timer, the other time because the walkers were in the way. You can read the full recap of the race on my blog Monday. =) (I will link this after it posts)

Sunday, August 25, 2013

Saturday, August 25 6:09p - 8:12p

Total time: 2:02:32
Total distance: 8 miles
Average pace: 15:19
Splits:
mile 1 - 15:21
mile 2 - 14:42
mile 3 - 14:58
mile 4 - 14:51
mile 5 - 15:15
mile 6 - 15:54
mile 7 - 15:26
mile 8 - 16:05

Weather: Warm, cloudy and at the tail end there was some thunder and lightening
How did I feel? Felt really good until the last 1/2 mile or so. I had some indigestion. Thankfully I was able to hold it together until I got home, but I don't like that feeling at all. Today's run felt much better then the last 8 miler I did. Didn't end up nearly passed out. Not sure if it was the weather difference or the fact that I used some energy chews or what, but it was good. I actually felt great the first half, pretty good the next 2 miles and just rough the last two. =)

Tuesday, August 21

Two runs last night with my MRTT group. First was with just Heather, then the second with the group doing speed work. The stupid nike+ website is undergoing maintanince so I don't have the slightest idea what my splits are.

Run 1 6:32p - 7:00p
Total time: 28:35
Total distance: 1.75
Average pace: 16:21

Run 2 - 7:22p - 7:55p
Total time: 28:17
Total distance: 1.75
Average pace: 16:02

Weather: Just plain hot. Mid 90s, slight breeze that helped, but still really warm!
How did I feel? Pretty good. First mile we did straight with one small walk break. Then the rest of both runs were jogging the straights at a faster pace, then walking the curves. That seems to work really well for me.

Monday, August 19, 2013

Monday, August 19, 6:50p - 7:17p

Total time: 27:47
Total distance: 2 miles
Average pace: 13:37
Splits:
mile 1 - 13:28
mile 2 - 13:46

Weather: Freaking hot.
How did I feel? I regret not getting out of bed early this morning (and missing my training run Saturday)! Two miles, up a pretty steep hill, and mile one was still my fastest. =) Love runs like this! Gives my confidence a bit of a boost. =) Tomorrow is speed work at the track with my MRTT group! Should  be fun! Something different for sure.

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Thursday, August 15, 7:26p - 8:14p

Total time: 47:57
Total distance: 3 miles
Average pace: 15:54
Splits:
mile 1 - 15:23
mile 2 - 15:25
mile 3 -  16:52

Weather: HOT, mostly no breeze. Did a lot of this on the track, walking straights and jogging the curves. Then did the rest of the way home.

How did I feel? Didn't have my phone, so no intervals. I am okay with my time though. It is the end of a HOT day and I am tired. Still felt really good to get out there. Also got a hole on the inside of the thighs of my shorts. Caused some friction burn in between, but not as bad as I expected.

How did I feel? Felt pretty good today. Really pushed a bit to try and get a sub 15 minute mile. And look at that NEGATIVE SPLITS! =)

Sunday, August 11, 2013

Saturday, August 10, 7:30p - 8:36p

Total time: 2:06:15
Total distance: 8 miles
Average pace: 15:44
Splits:
mile 1 - 13:30
mile 2 - 13:55
mile 3 - 15:01
mile 4 - 16:30
mile 5 - 16:25
mile 6 - 16:44
mile 7 - 17:15
mile 8 - 16:55

Weather: Hot, at times muggy, but progressively better as the run wound down. Love the cooler evening temps!

How did I feel?  I am not going to lie, this one was rough on me. Miles 1-3 seemed pretty good. For whatever reason miles 3-6 seemed endless! Even after the turn around (we did an out and back route) it felt like we were just going SO SLOW! Continued with intervals (1 minute running, 30 seconds walking) and for the most part stuck to those. First half completely with the intervals, took an "extra walk" at mile 4. Then in the last 4 miles I think I took 5-6 "extras." It got really really hard for me around mile 6-7. At one point I told Heather (my partner) "I feel like crap" to which she asked me to clarify how so. I told her that my legs were just tired, I was having some blurriness to my vision (almost like I had goggles on outside the water) but since I wasn't dizzy or light-headed we kept at it, just nice and slow (this is when the time started taking a big hit). Thankfully  my partner had some water and she poured some on my head then had me squirt some on my face. That felt much better! Then we saw some sprinklers about 10 minutes down the way, so I ran through those. Most were the low hitting mist type, but there were a few that went a bit higher, and I dipped my head down and got my face and neck cooled off. That helped a LOT I think because I was able to keep with the intervals again for the last mile and a half.

I am really starting to think I need to bite the bullet and get a hydration pack of some kind. It isn't worth my health during long runs to go without. I am also needing to get something for mid race energy. Maybe some gummies or something. I figured out quickly that gels are not going to work for me. Heather generously gave me one and I tore it open and took one glob and thought I was going to be sick! It was AWFUL! I am thinking I need something for my next run, I will probably "take" it around 4 or 5 and see how that does. I really pray the next 8 miler is a bit easier on me. This one was really hard. This week on the schedule is 3 Tuesday, 3 Thursday and just 4 on Saturday. Wondering if I might make that one a bit longer, maybe 5 or 6? But then I have back to back 8's for my long runs the next two weeks.

Thursday, August 8 6:29a - 7:32a

Total time: 1:02:46
Total distance: 4 miles
Average pace: 15:41
splits:
mile 1 - 15:19
mile 2 - 15:29
mile 3 - 16:01
mile 4 - 15:52

Weather: clear and cool
How did I feel? Felt really good until the tail end. I got really tired. Also learned that I really don't like waiting for stop lights while running. I almost got hit because I was watching the wrong signal lol.

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

Tuesday, August 6, 5:22a - 5:51a

Total time: 29:51
Total distance: 2.02 miles
Average pace: 14:48
Splits:
mile 1 - 15:00
mile 2 - 14:32

Weather: Cool and clear. Still dark, so that's always a challenge.
How did I feel? Felt kinda "off" this morning. Not sure what was going on. Maybe the dark. Felt clumsy, even though I didn't fall. Overall felt pretty good after though.

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Saturday, July 27, 8:11p - 9:46p

Total time: 1:34:49
Total distance: 6 miles
Average pace: 15:45
Splits:
mile 1 - 16:19
mile 2 - 14:40
mile 3 - 15:39
mile 4 - 15:35
mile 5 - 15:56
mile 6 - 16:17

Weather: Hot in low 90s with little breeze. I ran on asphalt, so that made it feel hotter to me.
How did I feel? This run was rough for me. Not sure if it was the distance or the new route or what, but I got really, really tired toward the end. Took a few more walk breaks then I was supposed to. Didn't take any extra the first 2 miles, then for miles 3-5 it was about every mile. By "extra" I mean instead of one run (1 minute) I would walk, then my regular walk break, then run again. So, a 2 minute total walk. I lost count during the last mile of how many extra I took. It wasn't pretty. I finished pretty strong though. The last 400 feet I didn't break! I am still pretty proud of this. Longest run to date since my 10k more then 2 years ago!

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Thursday, July 25, 7:56p - 8:59p

Total time: 1:03:03
Total distance: 4.16 miles
Average pace: 15:08
Splits:
mile 1 - 14:29
mile 2 - 14:25
mile 3 - 15:02
mile 4 - 16:31

Weather: Sunny and hot, temps in the lower 90s (93 at the time I finished) Some breeze, but not enough!
How did I feel? Pretty good. VERY tired at the end though, hence the slower times as I continued. I had some weird hand numbness this run though. Never had that happen before.

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Tuesday, July 23, 4:35a - 5:34a

Total time: 58:50
Total distance: 4.01 miles
Average pace: 14:40
Splits:
mile 1 - 15:08
mile 2 - 14:21
mile 3 - 14:45
mile 4 - 14:23

Weather: Another pre-sunrise run. Cool temps in the low 60s and clear. BEAUTIFUL view of the moon the whole run.
How did I feel? Felt good today. Again I had the calf/shin discomfort at the beginning of the run, but by the end it was gone. Have some stomach cramping post-run. Not sure if that is related to the run or what, frustrating though!

Saturday, July 20, 2013

Saturday, July 20, 8:02 - 9:06

Total time: 1:04:20
Total distance: 4.41
Ave pace: 14:30 (calculated)
Splits: unavailable since my app freaked out. I only WISH I did 6 in an hour lol.

Weather: hot stinking hot, muggy at times (near the river when there wasn't a breeze) Clear with some breeze, but not nearly enough.
How did I feel? Felt pretty good. Some calf and shin pain in the beginning, but seemed to ease up after the first mile or so.

Last note! I think the problem with my app might occur when I have it in my pocket, verses between the straps of my regular bra and sports bras (near my shoulder). I am going to test it the next couple runs see how it goes.

mile 1 - 14:15

How did I feel? Felt pretty tired. I think it was the double run day on Tuesday. But I finished.

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Tuesday, July 16, 5:01a - 5:59a

Total time: 57:08

mile 4 - 15:11

Weather: Pre-dawn run, so it was dark. Cool and clear. Temps around 68.
How did I feel? Felt really good. Pretty tired by the last mile, hence the slowing in my pace, but I finished keeping with my 1 min running/30 seconds walking intervals.

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Saturday, July 13, 8:15p - 9:32p

Total time: 1:17:48
Total distance: 5.11 miles
Average pace: 15:14
Splits:
mile 1 - 15:27
mile 2 - 14:41
mile 3 - 15:01
mile 4 - 15:02
mile 5 -  15:50

Weather: Sunny and warm. Temps in the 80s.
How did I feel? Felt really good tonight. A LOT better then last weeks 5 miler. Again I am realizing how far off my nike+ app is. Jimmy used his new work iphone and used the mapmyrun app, and compared to mine it was off by more then a half mile. So frustrating. The only good thing is that I mapped it from home before, so I was able to know that I had made at least 5 miles. =)

Last thing, I am having a few issues that I wanted to mention. One is that I am having a chaffing issue with my under arms, my lady "bat wing" on the inside. Wondering if that chaffing stuff might help... I am not sure what is causing it, only seems to be happening on my 4+ mile runs. Second thing is my belly button. I have a deep belly button, and my running capris hit me just at the belly button. Well, the last two or three runs, I have had pain inside the belly button. Only thing I can figure is that the sweat is getting in there and irritating it. Any ideas on what I can do about either one of those issues?

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Thursday, July 11, 5:46a - 6:45a

Total time: 59:03
Total distance: 4.07 miles
Average pace: 14:31
Splits:
mile 1 - 14:34
mile 2 - 14:33
mile 3 - 14:22
mile 4 -  14:21

Weather: high 60s, warm and clear. Pre sunrise, so it wasn't too bad.
How did I feel? Felt good this morning. Kept with my 1 minute run/30 second walk intervals and didn't take any extra walks. Hope the pace picks up a bit once I get back into the intervals.

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Tuesday, July 9, 5:55a - 6:52a

Total time: 57:43
Total distance: 4.01 miles
Average pace: 14:24
Splits:
mile 1 - 14:12
mile 2 - 14:08
mile 3 - 14:56
mile 4 - 14:21

Weather: PERFECT. Cool but sunny. Could have used a bit of a breeze, but it was really nice.
How did I feel? Great. Didn't use the interval timer, just ran until I wanted to walk a bit. I think that I will go back to intervals though, because my time is much better.

Sunday, July 7, 2013

Saturday, July 6, 8:14p - 9:22p

Total time: 1:07:54
Total distance: via mapmyrun 4.82 miles (my app thought 7.15!)
Average Pace: 14:06

Weather: Warm, 90ish and sunny
How did I feel? Felt good. The first few miles seemed to go by really fast. Frustrated with my nike+ app though. Most times it does wonderfully, but then times like this, it's so far off it isn't even funny. Need something more accurate. I might buy the footpod and see how that works...
